What is sand and cement render?

It’s the traditional way of rendering a house. A mix of sand, cement and lime or additives goes on in coats. Once it’s dry it’s usually painted with masonry paint.

It doesn’t have the colour mixed in like silicone or monocouche. So it needs repainting from time to time. But it can be a good fit for some older homes and for matching render that’s already there.

Sand and cement render questions

Do you paint it as well?

Yes. We can paint new render once it’s dry. See render cleaning and painting.

Is it cheaper than silicone render?

It can cost less to put on. But it needs painting and repainting, so it’s worth comparing the cost over a few years. We’ll price both on the survey if you’re unsure.
