What is silicone render?
Silicone render is a thin coat render with silicone resin mixed in. The colour runs all the way through so it doesn’t need painting. The silicone makes it water repellent so rain runs off rather than soaking in. It still lets the wall breathe so moisture inside can get out.
It’s flexible too. That means it copes better with small movements in the building than a rigid render, so it’s less likely to crack. It goes on over a base coat and mesh, either straight onto masonry or over insulation boards as part of an external wall insulation system.
We’ve used render systems from several manufacturers, including Fassa Bortolo, K Rend, Weber and Parex. They differ a little in texture, colour range and how they’re applied. We’ll recommend the one that suits your walls and the look you’re after.

How long does a job take?
It depends on the size of the house and the state of the walls. We’ll give you an idea of timings on the survey. Render can’t go on in heavy rain or frost so the weather can move things by a few days.
